The CarefulCare Story
My name is Elaine Brooks and I have always loved working with infants and babies. My husband and I live in Tacoma, WA where he is a retired dentist. We especially enjoy gardening, our grand children and spending time on Vashon Island. Occasionally we do some traveling.

Now 66 years old, a grandparent to five boys and one girl, I work in local private homes as "Nanny Elaine", caring for the infant whose mother is at the end of her maternity leave and is going back to work part-time. Based on the parents' schedules, I work flexible dates and hours up to 100 hours a month (and fewer than 30 hours a week) until the baby is 6 to 7 months old, and I pay my own social security and Income Tax.

My vehicle is used to drive the baby to the mother's workplace at least once during a full day to breastfeed, using pumped breast milk for other feedings. I try to provide ongoing support and information to first-time mothers who are breastfeeding yet working, and who want their babies to have the most loving, sensitive and safe care possible. I keep a log of each day's activities for the parents to have and I respect the privacy of client families.
